Curate Your Wardrobe With Fall’s New Colors
Dr2 Flowy Abstract Print Midi Skirt
Each season the runways bring with it a new set of trends for us to lust for. As we say goodbye to summer and welcome cooler months, the biggest trend to come out from this season’s fashion shows were bold, bright, and beautiful colors.
While loading up our closets with zesty oranges and head-to-toe yellows, goes against everything we know about autumnal dressing, we’re considering this as a challenge accepted. If you consider yourself a color minimalist, let this be the season to color outside of the lines.
Implementing loud and dramatic colors in your wardrobe may be difficult at first, but we’re here to help. Read on to see the six colors we’re rocking all season, along with our easy-to-digest dressing formulas.
Pacific Ocean Blue
Blue Short Sleeve Top with Tie Waist
While the idea of wearing an indigo hue isn’t new, this vibrant iteration packs a bit more punch than a traditional navy shade more commonly seen this time of the year. This particular color has us swooning mostly for its ability to seamlessly mix and match with other items in your closet. What’s even better is that Pacific Ocean Blue looks just as elegant and polished as navy, depending on how you style it.
Styling Tip: Pair a plain top and tuck it into a pair of printed trousers to make the outfit pop. Accessorize with equally striking accessories like blue tinted sunnies and sparkly earrings. The look is playful, but still dressed up enough for a day in the office.

Burnt Orange
Orange Pleated Wrap Pencil Dress
Opt for a brighter take on the season’s orange with tangerine-hued pieces. To keep it fall-appropriate, just make sure to choose pieces that will keep you cool all season long. Think: Jackets, trousers, and scarves in the yummy citrus shade.
Styling Tip: Rock your look with contrasting shades and prints. We’re particularly fond of breaking up the orange with black and white prints and maybe even a pop of some Pacific Ocean Blue.

Zesty Lime
Mersi Crossbody Pouch - Vegan Leather
A carryover color from summer means you don’t need to spend too much money to incorporate this color into your fall wardrobe. This shade of green brings a neon, highlighter edge to any wardrobe, which will surely make you stand out from the otherwise dreary palette of fall dressing.
Styling Tip: If you’re hesitant to dive head first into this trend, try incorporating the color into a print to keep things playful. Finish off your look with lime accessories like a bag or earrings in complementing shades of green.

Barbiecore Pink
Dora Landa Long Sleeve Metro Blouse
Another previous season hit that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, this shade of pink takes us back to a time when playing with Barbies (as its name suggests) was the highlight of our day. Dressing up in such a girly hue is a playful way to incorporate a feminine twist to everyday silhouettes.
Styling Tip: So as not to take the whole Barbie theme too literally, skip the flowy dresses and choose pieces you would wear on the daily, but done in metallic and bold pink shades.

Mellow Yellow
Mellow Yellow is possibly this season’s most optimistic color trend. If you’re still transitioning your wardrobe, now is the best time to bust out your sunny looks. Out of this season’s bod hues, yellow is probably the color you can easily rock from head to toe. While it is striking, it’s still part of fall’s color canon so you needn’t worry about attracting the wrong kind of attention.
Styling: For this color, we say go for bold and don a monochromatic look. So your styling doesn’t fall flat, consider looking for pieces with texture such as ruffles or pleats.
The Look:
- Key Piece: Ruffle Detail Peplum Top
- Add Ons:
Vanilla-Latte Beige
Kaii Draped Collar Trench Coat Jacket
Consider this last color trend a palette cleanser of sorts. While autumn is all about a more somber color palette, 2022 is surely turning things on its head, including adding a Vanilla-Latte Beige hue into the mix of vivid shades. Neutral-on-neutral ensembles work best for those who prefer to shy away from the bright colors previously outlined, but are equally as refreshing.
Styling: While beige can fall under the category of bland, opt for a monochromatic effect from head to toe. To add to that, explore wearing a cropped top under a fall-appropriate jacket or coverup. Keep the look laid back and cool and opt for slouchy silhouettes.

At the end of the day, fashion is all about breaking the rules and finding what fits you best. If wearing one color at a time can be daunting, try breaking it up with prints or mixing and matching hues and shades.
Despite what many people perceive as autumnal dressing (dark and somber), seasonal dressing is what you make of it. So if you’re ready to pack a punch this season, we invite you to add color into your wardrobes.
